5 Reasons To Do A First Look

First of all, what is a first look?

A first look is when the bride and groom choose to see each other before the ceremony. It is a private, quiet moment for the two of you to check in with each other before saying ‘I do’. The majority of my couples choose to do a first look and here is why:

Reason #1:

It will probably be one of the only times you get to be alone with each other all day! There is so much going on during a wedding day, most couples don’t get a single moment to themselves! This is a perfect time to relax and remember what this day is all about.

Reason #2:

Time. Doing a First Look allows us to get the majority of your portraits done before the ceremony so that you can spend more time with the family and friends. This can be especially important if you have family and friends coming from far away! Also, sometimes things run late and doing a first look ensures you still get beautiful photos of the two of you even if there isn’t much time after the ceremony.

Reason #3:

More Portraits! And I mean way more! Often, when leaving all the portraits for after the ceremony, the bride and groom will call it quits early because they want to join their friends and family. This way we can get the majority of your photos done beforehand and then few ‘just married’, sunset photos after the ceremony.

Reason #4:

Groom’s love first looks because if takes off the pressure. Having an entire crowd watching for a reaction from him as you walk down the aisle can be quite nerve-wrecking!

Reason #5:

He actually gets to react! To tell you how beautiful you look, to hold you in his arms and give you a kiss. He can’t really do that during the ceremony!

All that being said, if you’ve always dreamed of having him see you for the first time as you’re walking down the aisle, do that! This is your special day and it should be just the way you picture it!
